Merna Forster gave a presentation about Canadian heroines, for children and parents attending World Thinking Day celebrations. The event marked the joint birthday of Lord and Lady Baden-Powell , when Girl Guides and Girl Scouts around the world focused on international friendship. For the evening at Century Public School in Ottawa, Merna talked about some of the women featured in her book 100 Canadian Heroines: Famous and Forgotten Faces.
The girls then designed commemorative stamps for their favourite heroines. You can check out some of the artwork done by the Girl Guides.

On International Women's Day, Merna Forster was the guest of hosts Derick Fage and Catherine Marion on the television show Daytime. Merna shared a few inspirational stories from her book 100 Canadian Heroines: Famous and Forgotten Faces. The interview was broadcast live at 11 a.m., and repeated at 2, 5 and 11 p.m. More about the Daytime show.

Merna Forster autographed copies of her book 100 Canadian Heroines: Famous and Forgotten Faces at a presentation on the Fourth Stage. As part of the community programming at the National Arts Centre, Ottawa Storytellers presented Women of Courage. The performance depicted the experiences of Marie Anne Lagimodière and other courageous women.

Merna gave a presentation about Canadian heroines to Girl Guides in Blackburn Hamlet, Ontario. The program helped the girls earn their badges for the Women's History Challenge.

Merna Forster visited the grade eight class at J.H. Putman Intermediate School and answered questions about her book 100 Canadian Heroines: Famous and Forgotten Faces. With the help of teacher Katie Stroud, the students had been conducting research about Canadian heroes and heroines. Even decorated the class door!
