In 2004, MTV in India named her as a rising star and her single 'Deewana' won a film festival award in France: the 2004 Annecy. Born in Pune, India, she moved to Canada as a child. Ms. Vaze holds an MA in Dance from York University and also trained with vocalist Veena Sahasrabuddhe. Thanks to a fellowship from the Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute, Bageshree Vaze was able to study in India with the late Guru T.K. Mahalingam Pillai. In 1996 she moved to Ontario, where she began developing dance works that incorporate elements of both North Indian music and South Indian dance.

Ms. Vaze released her debut album, Bageshree, in 2001.
