Contest Rules for "The Canadian Heroines Contest 2007"

Contest
  1. Show us who your favourite Canadian heroine is, in one of the following mediums: short video, sound recording including song, photograph, painting, sculpture or collage.
  2. The heroine you select should be someone that you admire and consider to be a notable girl or woman in Canadian history.
  3. The heroine you choose to depict must have been born in Canada, or have accomplished something significant in Canada and may be living or deceased.
  4. All submissions must be created by the individual who submits them, and not be a copy of the work of someone else.
  5. There are two age categories for the contest: Age Group A is for ages 12-16. Age Group B is for ages 17 and over.
  6. Clearly state your name, age (for contest A only), and contact information, including address, email (if you have one) and telephone number in your submission.
  7. Clearly indicate if you submitting your entry for Age Group A or Age Group B.
  8. Contest entries must be received by heroines.ca by 5:00 pm on November 30, 2007.
  9. The winners will be announced in December 2007.
  10. The submissions may be featured on the heroines.ca website or possibly in other publications.
  11. For Age Group A, the first-place winner will receive $100 plus a copy of the book 100 Canadian Heroines: Famous and Forgotten Faces by Merna Forster. The runner-up will receive $50 plus a copy of the book 100 Canadian Heroines: Famous and Forgotten Faces.
  12. For Age Group A, the first-place winner will receive $100 plus a copy of the book 100 Canadian Heroines: Famous and Forgotten Faces by Merna Forster. The runner-up will receive $50 plus a copy of the book 100 Canadian Heroines: Famous and Forgotten Faces.
Rules and Regulations
  1. All winners for Age Group A of the contest must be between the age of 12 and 16.
  2. All contest entries become the property of heroines.ca/Merna Forster. Furthermore, heroines.ca/Merna Forster may withhold any contest materials crucial to the completion of the contest.
  3. Open to all residents of Canada (excluding Quebec).
  4. Additions or deletions to these rules may be made at the discretion of heroines.ca/Merna Forster, and may be enacted at any time.
  5. Employees of heroines.ca/Merna Forster and The Dundurn Group, their affiliates, representatives, and their families or households are ineligible to enter/win.
  6. Winners must sign a release prior to receiving their prize.
  7. All contestants acknowledge, as a condition of entry, that heroines.ca/Merna Forster has a right to publicize, or broadcast the winner's name, character, likeness, voice or all matters incidental herein as well as the submission made.
  8. In the event that a winner chooses not to accept a prize, he or she forfeits all claim to that prize. heroines.ca/Merna Forster then has the right, at its discretion, to award that prize to a contest runner-up.
  9. Any tie will be broken by random drawing from among the tied, qualified entries. The drawing will be conducted by heroines.ca/Merna Forster, and the results of the drawing are final.
  10. The decision of heroines.ca/Merna Forster is final. Winners will be notified by phone.
  11. heroines.ca/Merna Forster may substitute another prize of equal value, in the event of non-availability of an announced prize.
  12. heroine.ca/Merna Forster, its agencies, affiliates, sponsors or representatives absolve themselves of any liability, financial or otherwise, resulting from any contests staged by heroines.ca/Merna Forster.
  13. Chances of winning are proportional to the number of eligible entries received.
  14. This contest is subject to all applicable Federal, Provincial, and Municipal laws and regulations. All decisions of the contest judging panel are final and heroines.ca/Merna Forster shall not be held responsible for any errors or negligence that may arise or occur in connection with the contest.
  15. Prizes are non-transferable, non-exchangeable and have no cash surrender value. No substitutions will be made for the prizes except at the discretion of heroines.ca/Merna Forster, which may substitute prizes of greater or comparable value. Prizes are expected to be delivered to the winners by mail about 4-6 weeks after confirmation.
  16. All entries become the property of heroines.ca/Merna Forster upon receipt and will not be returned.
  17. heroines.ca/Merna Forster reserves the right to withdraw, terminate or modify all or part of this contest by publishing a notice on the heroines.ca website if for any reasons the contest is not capable of running as planned, including technical failure or corruption, computer virus, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud or any other cause beyond the control of heroines.ca/Merna Forster, which in the opinion of heroines.ca/Merna Forster affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this contest.
  18. heroines.ca/Merna Forster or other contest sponsors are not responsible for any lost, late, damaged, destroyed or misdirected entries or for any faulty electronic data transmission, equipment failure or other communication problems occurring in connection with participation with this contest.
